According to reports via Bloomberg, eight independent directors were at the board meeting along with CEO Tim Cook. A demo of the device was demonstrated to the directors. Recently, Apple has rolled out iOS 15.6 & macOS 12.5 Beta 1 for the Developers. Before that, it released iOS 15 and iPadOS 15.6 with some major fixes and improvements.
Apple AR/VR Headset Could Cost Between $2,000 & $3,000
Apple also announced software that runs on the headset, which might be called “RealityOS” or rOS in short. Apple’s virtual and augmented reality headset is the next big bet of the company. It is the first major new product category by Apple after it launched Apple Watch in 2015. The company has been working on AR/VR headsets for years now. It is said that this will be the first hybrid headset with a curved visor and soft mesh. There might be an Apple Watch-like strap to hold it. Apple will make this device lighter and more comfortable than other AR/VR headsets that are available on the market. Apple aims to launch the headset at the end of this year or next year in 2023. The company wanted to introduce it at Worldwide Developers Conference in June, but it couldn’t happen. As per the reports, the company is working on releasing the headset since 2019, but there were multiple delays. However, there are issues like overheating and also problems with the software and cameras. Apple’s AR/VR headset will feature two 4K micro-OLED displays, 15 camera modules, powerful processors with M-series chips, eye tracking, spatial audio, hand gesture, and more. The headset is expected to launch at a price of around $3000. Apple is expected to launch a set of augmented reality smart glasses around 2024.
